gotta get this bitch active again. last two dreams were romantic in nature. of course I don't remember who they were after waking. always feel unnerved. I met a purported aura reader at the grocery store. She approached me as I was on my way out, saying that she detected something in me and wanted to read my aura. Game, I accepted with a smile. She correctly described two incidents from my past, insider knowledge. Said I worry too much(yeah), I'm smart, need to stay on my path, and that I won't see her ever again. The craziest part was when she said someone(a sexy girl) from a past life is coming for me in five months. She ain't here yet. Someone will try to come between our love. Uh ok. Would be pretty cool for some girl who likes me for who I am to appear out of nowhere, but I don't have my fingers crossed on that one. Mostly just impressed by her statements about the past. She also said to be positive with everything, and that I would see results. I try to remember this multiple times a day, but as I've mentioned here I think my negativity is important. I'll do 75/25 in favor of positiveness, how's that? It won't come naturally, something I will have to work at. She told me to make two wishes. Said she'd burn candles and say a prayer for me that night. The last thing the old woman said to me was that I need to get closer to the lord. My interpretation of the 'lord' is the set of laws that govern nature and the universe, and the unconscious spirit of the collective. Will try to foster more positive vibes to my fellow occupants of this planet. Took melatonin for the first time in a while and it's starting to weigh me down. Time to listen to some music and drift to sleep. Have tomorrow(technically today) off, planning on productivity. Sitting on lots of music, adding to the pool all the time. You'll hear it eventually.

I know this is probably a boring blog to follow if you read this shit for entertainment. Still waiting on my nigga Carlos to get me the Winter Olympics tapes, but I am 95% sure they're ready now. In May, I became the proud owner of a Tascam 488. Got an INSANE deal. Starting to get the hang of the beautiful beast now, and it still brings a smile to my face the same as our first night together. Having twice as many tracks to work with has made me feel without limit, although the max number of tracks I've used thus far is (ha!). The 414 was starting to show signs of old age, still works, not going anywhere, but the prospect of being without a tape machine was too much.

I rode my bike downtown today to get my SP202 to a repair shop. Altogether, the trip took two and a half hours, including a stop for lunch on my way back. Something I noticed over the course of my trip: empty buildings. dead businesses. They started dropping like flies after the recession, but after a few years, things leveled out; it appeared that the strong had survived and the weak had been rooted out. The sight of an entire shopping center abandoned, save for a pawn shop on the corner, was a startling reminder that there is no such thing as invulnerability, especially in a declining city. Franchise restaurants were gone. Gas stations, shoe stores, clothing stores, thrift stores, laundromats, anything. It would seem that seniority had a hand in the longevity of the businesses still active today. A decent number of them have been around for at least three decades, many four or more. The local spots for generations past. Abandoned department store buildings conjure thoughts of wastefulness in my mind.

These things make me wonder if perhaps, my hometown will be a mere shadow of itself, a ghost town, in a matter of decades. The local government is both corrupt and inept, so a recovery wouldn't likely be the result of their actions.

I rode along a canal for part of the trip home. Human waste ranging from small cups to shopping carts was strewn the length of its dark green water, much floating at the top, more below the surface, accompanied by the smell of sewage. I laughed. A female mallard led her ducklings through the mess.

autobio: Christian Michael Filardo’s work revolves around the individual’s role within social climates, as well as the idea of how the outcast is included within society. By utilizing sound, video, photography, drawing, printmaking, and alternative publishing, Filardo is able to create pieces that convey personal issues, which double as commentary on contemporary society.

Filardo began to make art religiously in high school after a series of traumatic experiences. Childhood, and being a global nomad play a large role in why Filardo creates what he creates. As someone who has been shuffled from place to place, Filardo’s struggle to fit within a given place comes across within his work. Filardo is largely self-taught, as a result is also quite avant-garde.
Currently, Filardo is fascinated by team sport and how sports traverse cultural and linguistic boundaries, basketball in particular. He has been thoroughly working on a music genre he invented called, “Dunkwave”, which utilizes basketball samples, terminology, and playing of basketball to create drone like ambient music. Filardo is also working on publishing basketball issue number two, and on a new video titled, “Get Open”, which uses two televisions on opposite ends of the room both containing Filardo attempting to pass the ball to himself on the other TV. Filardo is also currently attending Arizona State University and has a west coast summer tour planned for his dunkwave band, “Vladee Divacc”.

My headphones were broken in a tragic freak accident a couple of days ago. Bought replacements on ebay, which should arrive around the 22nd. Fuck that. Until then, I'll be laying down one-track instrumentals. Starting to understand that nice headphones aren't an essential part of everyday life for most people. Purchased a Boss SP-202 for a good price and as things always go, it will get here before the headphones. At this stage, I am now ready for a sampler; my mind is overflowing with ideas.

I honestly don't give a shit about Veteran's Day or any holiday glorifying past American wars. When was the last time the United States fought a legitimate war? I don't give a fuck about veterans who volunteered. Vietnam vets get the most scorn from me.

My father's family has a military history. My great grandfather, Moses, earned many decorations for his actions during World War I. And he was black. Hell, my father was in Vietnam with the Air Force, but he didn't hurt anybody. He was drafted, and was so nervous about it that he had a seizure at the airport. When he told me about his time in Vietnam, he mostly spoke of pranks he pulled and other funny happenings.
